Final Fantasy XIV Is Getting a Companion App!

On a Saturday at 2:30am (PDT) in the morning, Square Enix held their “Final Fantasy XIV Letter from the Producer” livestream where suddenly a news bomb hit the fanbase.

Final Fantasy XIV was not only getting a new patch, but also a companion app for the main game. The app mentioned will be available for iOS and Android.

So, here’s the nitty gritty bit about this impressive news. After launching the app, you can enter your Square Enix account information and designate a character of your choice to use in the app. Those who use the app will be able to “register an additional favored destination aetheryte”.

The app will have both a free plan that all Final Fantasy XIV players suitable for and a premium plan that offers additional features (plus if it’s like among many of the other apps, then ads will be removed as well).

Another thing that you will be able to do in both versions of the app is sync your friends list and communicate with others through the app. The app will then also allow you to use the scheduler to plan events among other uses. The free version also allows players to sort inventory, access the market board, put items up for sale or purchase items. Not forgetting that the app will feature a login bonus of a kupo nut every day and will also have its own in-game currency… that for some reason will be named Moogle Coins (guessing a pun of a sort?).

Now, for what the paid premium version doubles the saddlebag capacity and allows you to hire an additional retainer. Those with the premium plan will also receive an additional kupo nut every day as well as being able to withhold more kupo nuts.

Square Enix also detailed its upcoming “Under the Moonlight” patch, known to be patch 4.3 for the expansion Stormblood, which will launch in late May. The patch will include a new Beast Tribe Quest, a new sidequest, a new instanced dungeon, new trials, a new alliance raid, a new deep dungeon, a second installment of the Ultimate series, new extreme difficulty content, job adjustments, PvP updates, and housing updates.

A thing to note is Square Enix released as a way to promote the main game back in September was called The Final Fantasy XIV Dad of Light on Netflix, which follows a young man reconnect with his father through Final Fantasy XIV.

What are your thoughts on this? I for one am excited seeing how much care is being put into the game from the developers. Plus with a whole new app and more content to explore, one cannot ignore that the game is just getting bigger and better.

Nevertheless, do tell me your thoughts on this down in the comments and if you liked this, then check out the many other contents linked in this article.
Stay Cozy and have a nice day!
